Twin Cities drivers who use Veterans Parkway will soon see a major change in their commute. The Illinois Department of Transportation says their resurfacing plan, between Washington Street and Clearwater Avenue, begins Monday.
Tuesday, department representatives held a meeting to discuss their plan for the upcoming months and to clear any confusion area business owners may have.
“Please don’t get frustrated,” said William Parker Jr. IDOT Resident Engineer. “We are doing it at night so we are trying to stay out of everybody’s way as best we can. If you have to come through the area please be careful, be cautious and hopefully in about three months you will have a much nicer commute through the area.”
IDOT is expecting the resurfacing of the area to be completely finished by November. They say the repair is much needed and ask for your cooperation throughout the process.
When construction begins expect complete lane closures in the area from 9 p.m. 6:30 a.m.
