Council weighs changes to roads on Bloomington’s east side

Local News

Changes to a pair of roads on Bloomington’s east side are the focus of a special meeting Monday.
The city voted unanimously to lower the speed limit on Hershey Rd. to 30 miles per hour,  at the request of local homeowners.
The change brings the speed in line with Hershey Rd. in Normal, and the city says the road will be safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Council was also supposed to decide if it wants to widen Linden St. from Locust to Empire Rd. It would accommodate a parking lane on the west side of the street, but the vote will now take place on February 13, 2017.
