UPDATE (2:22 p.m.) — Peoria firefighters and paramedics found a single vehicle on its driver side in the intersection with the male driver trapped inside.
Crews gained entry through the back window and provided patient care while other crews began extrication. The patient was removed from the vehicle transferred to AMT.
Officials said there was estimated damage of $10,000 to the vehicle and $100,000 to the utility pole, traffic light and electrical equipment. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the PPD.
PEORIA, Ill.– The Peoria Police Department diverted traffic Monday afternoon due to a crash in downtown Peoria.
It happened near the intersection of Jefferson and Hamilton. The intersection has since reopened, with temporary stop signs have been placed while repairs are being made.
Southbound traffic on Jefferson was being diverted at Fayette. Hamilton was blocked between Adams and Madison.
Police ask that drivers take a different route if possible.
There is no word on any injuries.
