The Tuesday structure fire in Creve Coeur is under criminal investigation.

Wednesday, the Creve Coeur Police Department said it is working with Illinois State Police to find out what led to the fire.

Crews were called to Cedar Ridge Village at approximately 5:50 a.m. Officers entered the home and attempted to locate the occupants but were unable to find anyone.

Fire officials fought the fire, while police looked for the owners of the residence. A neighbor told officers they watched two people leave shortly before the fire started.

Eventually, officers made contact with one of the owners, Kim Watters. Watters provided information indicating that her husband had made it out of the structure, but she did not know his whereabouts.

Police are currently attempting to locate Ronald Watters for questioning.

North Pekin, Bartonville, East Peoria, Cincinnati Township and Creve Coeur Fire Departments all battled the fire for 3 hours. The State Fire Marshal, East Peoria Fire Department Arson Investigators and ISP Zone 4 are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
