The Associated Press is projecting Democrat J.B. Pritzker as the winner of the race for Illinois governor.
Pritzker is in the lead with 54 percent, with Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner trailing at 39 percent, Independent Sam McCann at 4 percent and Libertarian Kash Jackson at 2 percent.
Pritzker’s campaign manager said Rauner has called Pritzker to concede, around 7:40 p.m.
Rauner thanked his supporters and staffers for their work over the last few years and throughout the campaign.
