Peoria public schools is taking a closer look at the capacity of its buildings. With that, the district is working with a group called Davis Demographics.
Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat says the group is working on a district demographics study. Together, school leaders hope to get a clearer picture of where students are living.
They’ll use that information to see trends of student movement, building usage and capacity.
Last year, the district underwent a project to reconfigure the specific grades that would make up the primary, middle, and high schools.
This latest project takes it a step further.
We can actually see where folks are moving where are the kids located areas that are growing those sorts of things.
Dr. Kherat says over the next month they will also work with the Transportation Efficiencies Committee to review the results of the demographics study. She hopes to present plans to become more efficient, as a district, to the board by the end of this calendar year.
