Canton residents are experiencing some unusually-colored and smelling water.
The problem began Saturday night after an Ameren power problem burned up the motors at the Canton Water Company, according to Superintendent of Canton’s Water Department Greg Pollitt.
Because of this, iron was getting through the filters, causing the strange aroma and appearance.
Even though the water company said the problem is fixed and the water is safe to drink, residents are still upset with the situation.
“I have a German Shepard, and they’re pretty smart,” Canton resident Bobbie Carpenter said. “And I haven’t had to fill his water bowl. And I didn’t really think about it, but he’s not drinking it.”
The main thing residents were disappointment with is that the Canton Water Company did not release a statement to the community letting them know what was happening.
