Detours, lane reductions in effect due to Main Street bridge repair project

Local News

EAST PEORIA, Ill. –Traffic pattern changes and lane reductions have started on Main Street in East Peoria.

The changes and lane reductions are due to the Illinois Department of Transportation repairing the bridge over Farm Creek, just west of the intersection of Main and Camp streets.

Motorists traveling northbound on Main Street are not allowed to make a left turn onto Camp Street. IDOT is reminding drivers they must follow the posted detour route, which utilizes a portion of westbound I-74.

Motorists should not block any intersections and are also advised to use alternate routes during the construction period.

The East Peoria Police Department is asking for the public’s patience and cooperation to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and construction workers. Police officers will be monitoring the area to ensure drivers’ compliance with the traffic changes.

The IDOT repair project is expected to last through Nov. 4.
