After a marathon debate, Vice President Mike Pence casts the tie-breaking vote to confirm Betsy Devos’ nomination as Secretary of Education.

The final vote coming down around 11:30 a.m Tuesday morning.

Monday night, Senate Democrats staged a last-ditch effort to sink Devos’ nomination. They held an hours-long debate on the Senate floor while arguing the billionaire donor lacks basic knowledge of American public schools.

Two G.O.P. senators had said previously they would vote against her nomination.
