Anyone planning on traveling through the Peoria International Airport should now allow more time to get there.
Construction began Monday on Dirksen Parkway, one of the main roads to the airport. The project consists of adding additional lanes, a new storm sewer and new traffic lights.
PIA Director of Airports Gene Olson said travelers should be mindful of the construction when visiting the airport.
“The thing to probably do is to allow some advanced time,” Olson said. “Come out a little bit earlier than you would’ve ordinarily. Because you may get stuck behind, like a fuel truck trying to turn left onto Johannson.”
Tthe project is scheduled to be completed in mid-Decemeber.
