PEORIA, Ill. — Kids from the dream center are making a difference in the community.
The students built a little free pantry that’s now outside of Sophia’s Kitchen.
Sophia’s Kitchen’s mission is to serve sack lunches to homeless, unemployed, and under-served in the area.
The new pantry will be accessible after hours and on weekends, helping make food more available.
Sophia’s Kitchen program director Claire Crone says the pantry will have a huge impact for many in the community.
“It means everything to them. They’re homeless, they’re hungry, they’ve come after hours, maybe not realizing that we’re closed, or over the weekends. And it gives them some nourishment over the weekends,” said Crone.
Father Millar also prayed and blessed the pantry.
The students say they hope to build more and place them around the community.
