U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth from Illinois will give the commencement address for George Washington University this May.
The ceremony will take place May 21 on the National Mall. Duckworth Graduated from GW in 1992 with her Master of Arts degree in international affairs. Since graduating, she has received multiple and awards from the university.
GW leaders recognize Duckworth for her service in the military and advocacy for veterans, women, and families.
“She embodies a spirit of service and sacrifice that has inspired our many GW veterans and our university as a whole,” says George Washington University President Steven Knapp.
