According to Peoria police reports, officers responded to the Marathon Gas station on University close to 4am Saturday.

The worker tells police someone came in the store and yelled, “hands up!”

The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, which was covering the bottom half of his face, a dark gray hoodie, dark gray sweatpants and black tennis shoes with black laces. After video surveillance caught the person, officers could see the person was African American.

The armed robber had a small dark colored handgun.

The suspect told the worker to open the safe and the register, all while at gun point.

The armed robber then asked for the clerk’s cellphone and told them to stay in the bathroom.

The suspect made it out with more than $2,000 in hand and the clerk’s cellphone, which was another $800.

Police are still investigating this robbery.
