UPDATE: 1 dead, 2 others injured following Bartonville car crash Friday morning

UPDATE — 2:15 p.m. — One person has died following life-threatening injuries from a crash involving three vehicles in Bartonville on Friday morning, April 16.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the driver of the sedan, 47-year-old Christopher L. Coleman of Peoria, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition. Coleman was pronounced deceased at 6:39 a.m. despite “aggressive resuscitative efforts.”

Harwood said Coleman died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma injuries. A toxicology test is pending.

Coleman was the uncle of the late Cherish Coleman, who was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Western Ave. in February 2021.

Bartonville Police Department, Fire, and EMS personnel were dispatched to US Rt. 24 at W. Pfeiffer Road for a two-vehicle collision with injuries at 5:46 a.m. Reports showed Coleman was traveling westbound on Rt. 24 when he apparently crossed the center lane and struck an eastbound truck head-on, causing his car to roll multiple times.

Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, sending all three drivers to the hospital. There has been no update on the condition of the other two drivers.

Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the collision.

UPDATE 10:55 A.M. All lanes are open to traffic.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — (UPDATE) — Police said two people have life-threatening injuries after a crash in Bartonville Friday morning, April 16.

Three cars were involved in the wreck, sending all three drivers to the hospital.

One vehicle rolled over and the driver was extricated.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Illinois State Police will conduct the investigation.

(PREVIOUS) — A crash in Bartonville resulted in multiple lane closures Friday morning.

The crash happened near the Auto Link Inc. on S. Adams Street just before 6 a.m.

Officials at the scene said that three cars were involved in the wreck.

Bartonville Police Department stated all lanes of Route 24 from Pfeiffer to Tuscarora are closed due to the crash.

The road will be shut down for an extended amount of time.
