Early morning double-shooting leaves one dead in Peoria

Peoria, Ill. - UPDATE: Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says that at 4:16 this morning, 25-year-old Lemont Brown Jr was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medial Center. 

Autopsy results show se has a single gunshot wound to the upper back, causing a severe amount of bleeding. Harwood says he likely died instantly from the blood loss, since it was not able to be controlled. 

There is no evidence of any other injuries. 

A bullet was recovered at the time of the autopsy; however, the caliber of weapon used is still unknown at this time.

Two people were shot early Sunday morning, leaving one dead in Peoria. 

Peoria Police responded to a total of 6 ShotSpotter alerts between 3:32-3:34 am. 

When officers arrived to the 1000 block of South Shelley, they found a 25-year-old male with life threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital. 

A second male, shot in the leg, was also found and transported to the hospital. Victim is reportedly suffering from non life-threatening injuries. 

Multiple bullet casings were found in the 900 block of South Shelley and also at the 1500 block of West Antoinette. 

A K9 search was conducted, but the crime is still under investigation.
