Elementary students produce a school newscast

ELMWOOD, Ill. — The Elmwood Trojan Newscast took a page out of our book.

Every month, the group of 5th and 6th graders at Elmwood Elementary gather interviews and create segments that will interest both parents and students and they have a lot of fun doing it.

On their show, you can watch funny dance battles, trivia games, advice columns and more.

The news team said creating this newscast is far more exciting than sending out a newsletter.

Kam Newton is part of the reason this newscast broadcasts at the school.

“It’s really fun coming in here and working on these videos and learning new stuff really is kind of a huge part of this that makes it fun,” Newton said.

Dimitri Almasi, the elmwood elementary school principal, is very passionate about this on-going project and wants students to retain the skills they use now and use them in the future.

“I just love it, I always felt when you can give a student confidence and give them them the tools to be successful really the possibilities are endless,” Almasi said.

The Trojan News team is grateful for the school staff who help them produce shows each month.
