The 2018 Evening of Stars event, hosted by the American Red Cross, set new records in fundraising and attendance.

Evening of Stars raised just over $342,000, the most ever raised in one night for the event. This year, Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the featured ‘star’ at the event, with more than 1,100 guests in attendance.

“It was amazing to be a part of this incredible outpouring of support from the community for the Red Cross,” says Kevin Callis, who with his wife, Lisa, served as Co-Chairs of the event. “A tremendous amount of money was raised and it will help provide critical Red Cross services to our community.”

Since the first Evening of Stars in 1994, the event has raised over $2.5 million to support local Red Cross services including disaster relief, community preparedness initiatives, blood collection, support for the troops and their families, and lifesaving health and safety classes such as First Aid and CPR.

“We are grateful to State Farm, who has supported Evening of Stars for all 25 years, including as lead sponsor of the 2018 event and to other majors sponsors for the event including The VEIN Specialists and O’Brien Mitsubishi,” says Lyn Hruska, who is the Region CEO of American Red Cross Central and Southern Illinois Region. “We want to thank all of the Evening of Stars sponsors, the committee, and the more than 1,100 people who attended the event,” she says. “We are so grateful for this tremendous outpouring of support for the Red Cross.”
