PEORIA, IL - Chanukah starts soon and families in Peoria got in the holiday spirit by making menorahs Sunday afternoon. Chabad Jewish Center and the Jewish Federation PJ Library partnered with Home Depot to offer a free workshop in its Peoria store. The director of the center said each family member should light their own menorah during the holiday.
"Really the message of Chanukah is light over darkness, good over evil, and most important, religious freedom is really what it's all about and in this day and age we want to be proud to practice our religion freely" said Rabbi Eli Langsam of the Chabad of Peoria.
Chanukah begins Tuesday night, December 12, and concludes on the evening of December 20.
