Jury selection is underway in the case of a former employee of Peoria Public Schools, who is suing the district for reverse racial discrimination.
Mary Davis filed a federal lawsuit against the district after she was fired. Davis, who is white, claims the district treated other employees better than her because they were black.
In 2009, she was accused of and later charged with stealing school money for personal use. In 2012, Davis pleaded guilty to lying to the police, the same year she filed the lawsuit.
Davis’ trial begins Tuesday.
