Festival of Lights upgrade to save East Peoria money

Local News

EAST PEORIA, Ill., East Peoria City Council approved spending for new electrical equipment.

This electrical equipment will be used to upgrade the electrical service in Vets Park for Winter Wonderland.

The festival of lights has 28 electrical services because Vets Park used incandescent lights years ago.
The upcoming project will eliminate 17 Ameren meters and transition from current lighting to LED lights and other technology.

East Peoria City Commissioner, Dan Decker, said this will save the city money in both energy and labor.

“The people of East Peoria, when they see the festival lights, they can be assured that it’s not costing tax dollars to put on this parade or to put on the park it used to it used to cost quite a bit,” Commissioner Dan Decker.

Spending the money now will have a short payback of about three years.
