The cause of a three-car garage fire in the 100 block of E. Irving St. in Normal is under investigation. The Normal Fire Department received the report from the Normal Police Department around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Public Information Officer Matt Swaney says that firefighters battled flames through the roof when they arrived and had to pull-out of the structure because of fears it would collapse. The fire was contained in about 30 minutes.
The west side of the garage contained an antique vehicle, which was destroyed. Two other antique vehicles that are usually parked inside where not there at the time. The building and vehicle are insured, but the cost of the car was not disclosed. The damage to the garage is estimated at around $25,000.
No one was hurt and the Normal Fire Department Investigation Team is working to determine a cause.
