NORMAL – Flu season is in full swing and local hospitals are seeing more patients showing flu-like symptoms.
There’s been a spike in flu cases in the area.
Advocate BroMenn is seeing nearly 60 patients per day in its emergency room.
Health officials say we have entered peak flu season and the caseload is particularly high this year.
One expert recommends that you check with your primary care physician if you experience flu symptoms, especially within the first couple of days.
Infection Preventionist Laurel Mode told us, “We’ve been seeing more of that, particularly in the month of February for this season. It seems to be really peaking at this point in time of the year.”
Advocate BroMenn says it is not too late to protect yourself from the flu.
Every admitted patient is offered a flu shot.
