EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Fon du Lac Park District officers responded to two major accidents on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, a barge hit a public dock in Chillicothe. Officers responded and were able to tow a 100 foot section of the dock back to Chillicothe.
On Sunday, a sailboat with three passengers capsized near the Eastport Marina.
The investigation is still pending, but Fon du Lac Park District Director Michael Johnson says all three were picked up by a passing boat.
Johnson says his officers are well trained and equipped to respond to all types of emergencies.
“All our officers are certified, as B.T.L.S. – basic trauma life support officers, as well as certified re-constructionists in doing marine law enforcement operations. So we’ve got a pretty good team,” said Johnson.
Luckily, no one was injured in either incident.
