A former Peoria Public School administrator is being remembered today.

Harry Whitaker who last served as PPS superintendent from 1974 to 1988, died on Sunday.

A Bradley graduate and Naval Veteran, Whitaker also served as a teacher, coach and principal of Peoria High during his 34-year career within the district. He was honored back in 2014 when The Peoria City Council named a section of North Street in Pekin after him.
