Four central Illinois libraries to receive state funding

Four local libraries received part of a grant from the Illinois Secretary of State Wednesday morning.

Jessie White, who is also the state librarian, announced over $344,341 in grant money through Project Next Generation. The money comes from the Illinois State Library using federal Library Services and Technology Act funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Here are the four central Illinois libraries included in the announcement.

  • Kewanee Public Library District
  • LaSalle Public Library
  • Pekin Public Library
  • Peoria Public Library – Lincoln Branch

There are 25 libraries across the state in total. Grants were awarded to public libraries serving culturally diverse, low-income and underserved populations. For the full list of libraries and more information regarding Project Next Generation, click here.
