Frontier Airlines making a comeback in the Twin Cities

BLOOMINTON, Ill. - Frontier Airlines had their inaugural flight Monday afternoon, from CIRA to Denver.

The airport held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the first group of passengers to arrive out of the new frontier terminal.

This is the third time the airline is making an appearance at this airport, and while some worry this partnership could again end, airline officials say this time is different.

"We are under a completely different business model than we were four to five years ago," said Scott Fisher, Senior Director of Sales and Loyalty at Frontier Airlines. "As an ultra low cost carrier that offers ridiculously affordable fares across the u.s, the company has become much more stable."

Frontier will also be offering flights from CIRA to Orlando International, making it the only airline in the Central Illinois region to do so.

"They have told us they are very committed," said Fran Strebing, Deputy Director of Marketing at CIRA. "They are very excited and really they came back based upon their previous experience here."

The non-stop flights to the two destinations will be available starting on September 24th and are being offered three times a week.
