Gleason announces his first step in his Bloomington City Staff reorganization

Local News

Bloomington City Manager Tim Gleason’s city staff reorganization was put into effect Monday night as he announced his plans for two city staff vacancies.

Gleason says Leslie Smith-Yocum will move from her current position of County Administrator to now take on the role of city clerk. Yocum replaces Cherri Lawson who is moving to Arizona, where she will also be accepting a role of town clerk.

Gleason says he looks forward to working with Yocum because believes she has great ideas that will help improve the city.

“The decision was, she will fill the position in the interim just to make sure that her ideas are something that would truly work,” said Gleason. “Then I assess and make sure that I am satisfied as well, but it was a perfect opportunity.”

Yocum will be serving in the interim for up to six months.

Gleason also announced he has whittled the pool of Deputy City Manager candidates from 20+ to five applicants. He says he anticipates the announcement for that position in late January, early February, of next year.
