Gov. Pritzker signs bill to help substitute teacher shortage

Local News

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.–A newly signed bill could help school districts tackle the teacher shortage, at least for now.

Gov. Pritzker signed a bill that streamlines background checks for substitute teachers.

The bill’s creator, State Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha), worked with superintendents to craft the bill.

It allows regional offices of education to share background information on substitute teachers with districts in the state.
