PEORIA, Il. - Governor Bruce Rauner touting the importance of higher education in Peoria Wednesday. A day after unveiling his 2019 budget proposal, Rauner visited students and staff at Methodist College.The Governor says he will continue to push for resources and apprenticeship programs for all ages.Rauner is also calling for schools to also pick up the pension burden.
“We want to have all of our pensions properly structured and funded,” said Rauner. He adds, “We want to make sure that we have a good retirement plan for our teachers.” Education advocates argue the burden of this cost will end up hurting students.
