PEORIA, Ill. - A Chicagoland favorite is making its way to the River City.
Portillo's held a groundbreaking ceremony today near the spot of the new restaurant coming to Peoria. Representatives from the city were there, along with local politicians, celebrating the new business.
Portillo's CEO said it's been a long road but he's excited about the future partnership with the city.
"I think everybody had the right conclusion in mind and wanted to make sure everything got put together," says Keith Kinsey, CEO of the chain restaurant. "But it was just a little bit of the process to get there but I think it was always positive. It was laways for the right things."
Portillo's is scheduled to open in Peoria sometime in 2018.
