OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois gave parents tangible examples on how to keep their kids healthy at their “Healthy Lives 4 Kids”.
During that time, kids got to enjoy interactive activities. Some of those included obstacle courses, yoga, a short distance race and healthy snack samples.
Staff said this is a fun way to learn and teach kids new things.
“We keep hearing kids need to eat better, they need to get more sleep, they need to get more exercise. But how can we do that in a realistic way? Does it always have to be reading different materials? But today we are showing them different options that they can actually use at home that makes sense to them and that are realistic, that the every day parent could actually utilize,” said Stephanie Miles, Lead Program Coordinator at OSF Children’s Hospital of IL.
This event took place at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA.
