E Illinois Ave standoff ends, police find empty house

PEORIA, Ill. — The Thursday Peoria standoff ended with officers finding nobody inside the house in the 100 block of E Illinois Ave.

Police arrived to the scene around 9:30 a.m., surrounding the house. Roughly three hours later, the Peoria Police Department’s spokeswoman Amy Dotson said there was nobody in the house when law enforcement eventually went inside around 12:10 p.m. Less than half an hour later, the PPD’s Special Response Team cleared the house.

Traffic was blocked off during the incident.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood was not called to the scene.

The city’s tactical operations center truck at one point joined the several police cars that were present.
