UPDATE (3:50 p.m.) — Police have arrested a man and woman after they barricaded themselves in a home in Spring Bay Monday.

According to Dennis Tipsword, the Chief Deputy of the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, the incident started after a 911 call came from an Uber driver being robbed at approximately 5 a.m.

Deputies learned that the suspect Steven J. Werner fled the area. Officers searched the area, but could not find him.

Officers later responded to a domestic incident at approximately 9:03 a.m., where neighbors said they heard a woman calling for help. At 9:30 a.m., officers observed Werner flee into the house.

Officers surrounded the house for six hours.

Werner was eventually arrested for robbery. Kaitlin Brewer was also arrested for obstruction.

They have both been taken to the Woodford County Jail.

SPRING BAY, Ill. (WMBD) — There is a heavy police presence in Spring Bay Monday.

Police are blocking off part of Zimmerman Road both ways, and part of Galena Road.

Residents are encouraged to avoid the area at this time.
