UPDATE: Victim identity released following deadly homicide on W. Willcox Ave. Friday night

UPDATE (Oct. 16, 1:23 p.m.) — The Peoria County Coroner has announced Marteil D. Robinson was the victim in the deadly shooting Friday night.

Robinson was transported to OSF via ambulance following the shooting and was reported to be in grave condition. At 10 p.m. he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary evidence showed he died as a result of his gunshot wounds and likely died seconds following the shooting.

Police are now investigating the death as a homicide.


UPDATE (Oct. 16, 8:07 a.m.) — A man is dead after being found in the passenger seat of a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds Friday night.

Peoria Police Officers responded to the 600 block of W. Wilcox Ave. for a shot spotter alert with multiple calls of shots fired.

Officers then found the adult male inside the vehicle. They performed life-saving measures until AMT arrived, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.

The victim was later pronounced deceased.

Police are still investigating the incident and at this time, there is no suspect information.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – There’s a heavy police presence on W. Willcox Ave. near N. Sheridan Rd. in Peoria.

Right now, Peoria Police have blocked off the intersection. At least six police cars and a fire truck are on scene. Drivers should avoid the area at this time.
