If you’ve ever noticed the flag that hangs inside the atrium at UnityPoint Heath, you’ve seen a piece of history.
The American flag was raised 15 years ago, after the attacks on September 11th to show patriotism.
It got special recognition today. The Sons of the American Revolution presented the hospital with a certificate for its display of patriotism.
Hospital staff used a bow and arrow to connect the wire on which it hangs from one side of the atrium to the other.
The hospital hopes patients feel a sense of pride when stepping food inside the building.
“We hope that it will stimulate patriotism and a recognition of our values as a country and the search for health and happiness some of those early promises that Jefferson made.” Dr. Allan Campbell said.
The flag is best seen at night from the upper levels of the building.
