PEORIA, Ill. — In a year of reboots, remakes and more, FrontierBundles.com put out a report analyzing each U.S. state’s favorite ’90s movie, and Illinois’ is “Home Alone.

The family-friendly comedy was filmed in Chicago, which could speak to the Illinois residents’ preferences. Minnesota also ranked “Home Alone” as its favorite film.

The FrontierBundles.com team tracked down the 20 highest grossing films of the 1990s and analyzed Google Trends search volume around each movie from May 2018-2019 to determine every state’s favorite movie.

“Titanic” was the most popular film on the list, with 19 states claiming it as their favorite.

The ’90s officially turn 30 next year, and instead of baking them a cake, Hollywood seems to be celebrating by releasing remakes once or twice a month.

“The Lion King” is the highest grossing G-rated film ever made and its 2019 revamp is set to break box office records. The 2017 remake of “Beauty and the Beast” is the second-highest grossing PG film ever made.

Illinois’ favorite ’90s film in 2018 was “Home Alone” as well.
