Some businesses in the area are still dealing with the effects of heavy rainfall that hit central Illinois earlier this month.

Hooked on Fishing, a nonprofit in East Peoria that teaches kids to fish remains closed after flooding delayed its annual spring opening.

Park officials are waiting for the river to drop below 17 feet, before they can begin to  rehabilitate the facilities and re-open.

Dan Gannaway, the Park Director, says,  “This year has been a rough start, but we’ll get through it.” He added, “We are hoping if the river continues to  fall at the rate they’re projecting, maybe by the beginning of next month we can have the place cleaned up and ready.”

To make up for lost revenue the park is holding its 3rd annual fundraiser June 2nd at Oakridge Sports Man Club in Mackinaw.
