Families gathered at the Bloomington Public Library to get hands-on experience on a variety of activities. This event called “How To” Festival was 3 hours long and it consisted of things like learning how to make ice cream, play a new instrument, make a scrap book and even learn how to sew.
This idea isn’t new, but it is the first time it’s happened in Bloomington. The librarian said it accomplishes their mission as a public library.
“It’s always good to have an event that appeals to different ages. You have adults trying kid things and kids trying adult things. It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as you’re talking and learning,” said Katie Gandhi, Bloomington Public Library librarian.
Gandhi hopes community members walked away with a new skill or a hobby.
