Hundreds of people gathered in Bloomington Monday to show their support for immigrants.
The “Keep Families Together” campaign hosted a march from the McLean County Museum of History to Bloomington City Hall. Marches wore butterfly wing and help paper monarch butterflies. The butterflies symbolized the movement of immigrants other countries into the U.S., like the monarch butterflies migrate from Mexico into our nation.
Demonstrators urged Bloomington leaders to pass a “Welcoming City” ordinance, which would bar the city and police officers from reporting people suspected of being undocumented. Supporters say the city needs to stand with immigrants under the Trump Administration.
