EAST PEORIA, Ill. — Illinois Central College is giving community members the opportunity to get paid while they’re learning new job skills.
The apprenticeship program allows people to pick a career and technical program. Local companies hire these apprentices and pay for their tuition and fees. They also pay them a salary during this summer and fall-long program.
New career areas have been added this year as well as a pre-apprenticeship program which prepares people to qualify for the apprenticeship.
“What we are looking to do is to take people who are maybe working already one or two jobs, not making a family sustaining wage, not having full time benefits. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to be sponsored to go back to school,” said Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey, President of Illinois Central College.
