SPRINGFIELD - Summer seems to be coming to an end earlier this year than in past seasons, and based on long-range weather forecasts it appears this winter will see slightly above-normal precipitation. In preparation for the cold months ahead, the Illinois Department of Transportation, IDOT, is seeking to fill temporary jobs.
The department’s annual “snowbird” program is looking to fill both full-time and on-call positions for seasonal employment. These positions require employees to quickly respond to weather situations, work in emergency conditions, and be available to respond to snow and ice control efforts at any time needed including, nights and holidays.
Applicants are required to have a valid commercial driver’s license, and submit to a criminal background check, as well a pre-employment physical, vision and drug testing.
Applications and further information about the positions can be found on the IDOT website. Applications are due by September 13th.
