IDOT is holding a public hearing about the removal and replacement of the McClugage Bridge.
It’s being held inside the gym at Washington Gifted School next Wednesday, March 15th. It will run from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
IDOT is explaining more about why the project is a necessity and why the bridge is being upgraded from 2 lanes to 3.
“Right now that span is a 2 lane bridge, this would be a 3 lane bridge,” says Brian Williamsen of IDOT, “On top of that, adding things like some more connectivity things, like a bike path. So something where you can get more folks over the river safely as well.”
The project is expected to cost about $200 million.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2019.
