Illinois 911 call centers receive $5.3 million in grant funds

PEORIA, Ill. — The state of Illinois recently received more than $5.3 million in grant funding to upgrade it’s 911 call centers to Next Generation 911 capabilities.

The grant is critical in helping first responders provide aid more quickly.

It will enable the call centers to have a more effective system that will boost overall safety through text and other improvements.

Illinois is one of 109 million dollars in grants being awarded to 34 states and two tribal nations.
