Children’s Home Association of Illinois and OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center are teaming up to promote a new pilot program.
Illinois Family Connects is a system that helps new moms.
The program allows a family to have an at-home visit with a nurse a few weeks after delivery.
It also provides wellness checks with not only the newborn but also with the mother.
The State of Illinois hopes this program will provide families with a resource that they would not have know about before.
“And what we really hope is that every baby and every family will benefit from the opportunity to speak to and learn from a trusted home visitor,” says Diana Rauner, First Lady of Illinois.
Now, since it is a pilot program, only Peoria families who deliver a baby at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center will have access to its services.
