SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The current session of the Illinois General Assembly will not end Friday night as scheduled.
House Speaker Michael Madigan has announced to lawmakers they will be in session through Sunday at least. He says it is due to the volume of work load still in front of them.
Madigan points out in a House Bulletin that per diems are not available beyond Friday.
Nothing has been announced about the Senate’s plans so far. The biggest issue not resolved yet at this point in a full state budget, but other issues also remains such as gambling expansion and abortion rights.
