Illinois is one of the best places to be police officer.
That’s according to a new WalletHub study ranking the best and worst states to pursue a career in law enforcement.
The land of Lincoln ranks as the seventh best state in the survey. The study compared states based on three factors: opportunity & competition, job hazards & protections, and quality of life.
Local law enforcement agree with the findings, saying it’s a great place to be an officer.
“The city, the department has a lot to offer there’s a lot of different things you can do as a police officer, you can start as a patrol officer and end up as you know the sky’s the limit there are so many different things to do here so I like the variety and no day being the same.” Officer Amy Dotson, of Peoria Police, says.
According to the study, North Dakota tops the list as the best state to be a cop and Arkansas is at the bottom of the pack.
