Illinois State University’s is looking to increase its international enrollment over the next decade.
ISU’s Board of Education endorsed an partnership with INTO University Partnerships. According to INTO’s website, their goal is to expand higher education opportunities to international students.
ISU hopes to see the enrollment of international students jump from the current 2 percent to an overall 10 percent in the next ten years.
Illinois State will enhance international recruitment efforts and provide expanded English language instruction and other pathway programs for international enrollment
The board also authorized the school to create a international student center on campus for recruitment and support activities.
University leaders say they want to enhance campus diversity, but the efforts will not displace qualified graduates from Illinois high schools.
