Illinois State University is looking into the possibility of creating a technology-focused incubator in Normal.
The university submitted a request to see if there was any space available in the soon to be constructed Trail East building.
Leaders said that with the county’s recent emphasis on economic development, they believe this incubator would help assist hopeful business owners improve the Twin Cities.
“There’s alot of support with this and again the discussions have been going on for a couple of year here internally on campus and then also talking with community partners. We’re hoping within the next year or two to really make some concrete progress on the project,” said Eric Jome, ISU Spokesperson.
ISU officials have not made an official statement on whether they will officially move into the building. They say they’re waiting for a response on several grant proposals.
