Illinois Wesleyan University is launching a new scholarship for local students.

It gives $27,000, or more in annual scholarships, per student. The money will only be offered to McLean County High School graduates, accepted into IWU.

IWU’s president hopes this initiative will bring more local students to the college.

“The community leaders who are generously sponsoring this initiative, are making it a priority to focus resources on increasing our student population from McLean County, and then hopefully keeping them here in this great community,” said Eric Jensen, IWU President.

IWU believes it’s important for students to go away for college, so all scholarship recipients must live on-campus during their enrollment. The scholarship application is available online at www.IWU.edu/apply.
