It is National Crime Victim Rights Week, April 8-14th
The annual event celebrates milestones in advocacy and encourages private citizens, organizations and dedicated public servants to continue supporting survivors of crime.
Assistant Majority Leader Jehan Gordon-Booth will receive this years Victim Service Award. The recognition will come from the Illinois Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Leader Gordon-Booth’s progressive criminal justice agenda helped to earn her this 2018 nomination.
“This work is incredibly important to me because of the impact that will have on people and families just like mine long after I am no longer legislator,” Leader Gordon-Booth said. “That is the ultimate that every leader and legislator should be striving for – – work that continues to make an impact long after our tenure.”
Leader Gordon-Booth will be joined by this year’s second Victim Service Award honoree, State Senator Kwame Raoul.
